This seems to be the only alternative found for non-iPod MP3 players using the lighter input, but that's still not saying much. There's no input for the MP3 cords. When you use the USB end, it doesn't work. So, when you resort to using the auxillary cord, SURPRISE!!! The auxillary input is way too small to fit the average auxillary cord. You'd have to go and buy a small auxillary cord to fit as well as a converter for it to fit the regular sized auxillary cord which plugs into your android. Good luck with that. So, it's not conducive to my non-iPod MP3 player at all. As a final resort, it did take a separate USB stick, but it doesn't scan through the albums/artists. You have to drag and drop the songs on to the USB stick and sort song by song. Very tedious. Why aren't there more of these fm transmitters conducive to non iPods?????
The transmitter itself seemed to work fine, but the cable was very poor quality. I returned it and the cable on the new unit was just as bad. One end is a 1/8 cable but the other end is much smaller to fit into the transmitter itself, or else I would have replaced it.
This transmitter is amazing. It exceeded my expectations while playing off a USB, SONY mp3 player, and iPod (iPod being the least amazing, but still good). It's quick to set up and the sound is great, even if your car's sound system is pretty old. Construction is rugged but compact and doesn't clutter your dashboard. EXCELLENT product. Beats Belkin any day of the week. You won't get better value.
Just picked up one of these. Despite the box saying the FM range was from 88.1-107.9 - this unit in fact goes to the coveted 87.9fm, which is very clear and less likely to get interference. The line in, and the supplied cable are garbage. So instead I use a USB flash drive and the Ultimate unit itself as the mp3 player. 4/5 because the supplied cable and line in problems.
Likes: -Easy set up (plug and go) -Great sound quality -Extremely fast reading of mp3's off of thumb/sd cards -After shut down, it returns to the same track when you turn it on Dislikes: -I bought for Ipod use as I'm a huge fan of podcasts, doesn't work well with my Nano at all. The sound quality is very distorted at all volume levels and the output level is terrible at best. I have to have the volume at 35/40 to get a decent output, and even then it sounds like garbage. -When using with thumb/sd, again the output is low compared to normal radio or cd's. I have to have the volume at 25/40 when cd's/radio are set at 12/40 for the same output. I would rate this at a 3.5 out of 5 (if I could, had to round up to 4) as the performance with thumb/sd is fantastic (and easier than Ipod), but if you need this for an Ipod transmitter I definately WOULD NOT recommend this. 0/5 performance with Ipod.
