How do I know which tax software to choose?

Check the handy chart above to see which one is right for you. If you still have questions visit your local Future Shop store and a Product Expert will help you out.

What is NETFILE?

NETFILE is a secure transmission service that allows you to file your tax return with the Canada Revenue Agency over the Internet. In order to use NETFILE you must prepare your tax return using tax software, either installed on your computer or through a web application.

You will also need a four-digit access code, provided by the Canada Revenue Agency. If you don’t have an access code here’s how you can get one.

If you are filing a tax return for the very first time, you will not be able to send it through NETFILE. Try going to an EFILE service provider or print and mail your tax return.

What is an access code and how do I get one?

Your access code is a four-digit code printed on the information sheet of your T1 personal income tax return package.

If you don’t have one or misplaced your code click here to get another one.

When will I get my refund if I file through NETFILE?

Through NETFILE you can get your refund in as little as eight days.

What if I want to print out my return for my records?

No problem! After you use tax software to prepare your return and file it through NETFILE you’ll have the option of printing it out or saving it as a PDF.

I own my own business. Will tax software work for me?

Yes, all the tax software we sell is designed to help you do a tax return for your small business. You’ll need to get the right type of software for your business, whether it’s incorporated or unincorporated.

What’s the deadline for filing my taxes this year?

For most people, the deadline for filing your 2010 tax return is on or before April 30, 2011.
